A two-month journey around Australia was terminated following the death of an senior lady who was left behind by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the ship staff discovered the lady was missing.

A large-scale rescue mission located her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with police and the official investigator.

Head of the shipping company said that travelers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he mentioned that guests would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Authorities also issued an updated communication, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" prohibiting any new passengers from entering the vessel.

The representative said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The ship initially left Cairns on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the voyage at the time of the elderly woman's passing. The tropical location was the first stop on the journey.

Travelers on board - who usually pay large sums of currency to take part in the expedition - were taken there for a shore visit with the choice of hiking or underwater exploration.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "stunned and distressed that the ship left the location after an scheduled outing without my mum".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mum as an "active octogenarian" who was a member of a bushwalking club.

"Based on limited details we have been provided, it seems that there was a failure of responsibility and common sense," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the inquiry would be able to determine what "the organization should have done that might have saved Mum's existence".

"We understand from the police that it was a extremely warm period, and mum took sick on the uphill trek," she stated.
